Autumn light, holidays and horse riding

?>

The school holidays have been busy and productive so far.

I have been babysitting tiny vegetable seedlings for a friend and I felt almost sad when it was time for them to return home.  I hope they continue to flourish!

Mum has visited us and among other things, she gave our new olive pitting gadget a test run.

We have visited family for a combined birthday party and christening.  I just had to take some photos of their homemade garden art and tidy vegetable garden.

I have been experimenting with sourdough pita bread in the wood oven.  More to come on this later.

We have had some early morning grooming sessions at the horse yard.  A cold, wet Sunday morning was not enough to stop our young horse enthusiast from trotting out on the field at our local Pony Club and getting right into the action.

The light is changing and it is particularly pretty when the sun is setting behind our wood oven.

What good things are happening in your life?

I hope you are growing or sharing or making something with the special people in your life.

autumn is such a great time to witness the changing of the trees and the light. The veggie garden sure is neater than mine. I'm cooking leek and potato soup and warmed bread for a day inside with kids, in our pjs to fight off the last of a head cold. great blog Jane l really enjoy following and reading.

Beautiful. I'd get up to brush a pony too! I've never seen an olive pitter-gadget-thingy! I too have been admiring the autumn light, it's so inspiring. And I also spent a day with my mum cutting up her basil to store in the freezer for winter use and attempting to dry oregano. Love your little glimpses of life shared here x

i loved the first pic too, the little baby seedlings. i would get attached to them too. i potted some tulip and freesia bulbs recently and they are just poking their greenery thru now, it's exciting.

There is a lot of seedling babysitting going on … it's been happening in my back garden, too. The new compost bin is in. Autumnal flowers on the bushes are about to bloom. Sourdough practicing continues. The days are sunny, the evenings are cool. Life is good.

It's gorgeous light this time of year isn't it. It quite often stops me in my tracks when the sun is setting. My four year old always grabs me to watch the sun going, letting me know whether the light was pretty or not for that afternoon. Makes me smile.

Your olive pipper looks the business.

I like the idea of baby sitting seedlings. Especially the surprise addition when a vacant spot presents itself, and someone plants something new there!. Beautiful photos, and nice to visit another garden for fresh ideas too. Thankyou Jane.
