School holidays…how sweet it is to set our own routine and enjoy all the good things winter has to offer, such as toasting marshmallows.
Harvesting home grown broccoli.
Pruning my young quince trees.
Going for an extra long horse ride.
Enjoying a special family morning tea to celebrate George turning three.
Watching the sun set through the bare branches of our mulberry tree.
Indulging in delicious baguettes, coffee and baby cinos at our favourite localΒ cafe.
What are you up to at the moment?
Do you love winter? Β I am learning to appreciate it more these days.
Happy Sunday friends.
Kate
I love winter Jane. Marshmallows are a favorite here too and we like to use the pizza oven in winter. My children say this means dessert pizzas and sparklers!
Evenings by the fire with a ball of wool are pretty good too….

Mmmm…lovely thoughts Kate x

this weekend we've had two beautiful frosty mornings in a row..i went out this morning to find quite thick ice in my birdbath and pretty white frost on the ground and yesterday was the same..both days have been sunny, with no wind, and relatively warm..perfect for bushwalking with my son!

That picture on the horse is really beautiful. Such great light! Also delicious looking food as always.
Jane S
Thanks mama smith. I rarely edit my photos but the horse photos are edited…just for fun!
Zara
Winter is my favourite season. It's our first living inland and its so cool and with so many frosts. But I love rugging up to go out and about and then snuggling up in front of the heater.

Hi Zara, one thing good about the frosts is that it usually means a beautiful sunny day will follow, in our part of the world anyway π

What a glorious time you're having, Jane! It's so lovely when the kids are little – I really miss those days. It's great that you're taking the time to absorb this time into your soul, if that makes sense. π
Your quince trees got a serious pruning! And our broccoli is nowhere near ready, but fingers crossed it won't be long. Wish you were closer and I'd trade you for some cos lettuce – we're overrun with them at the moment.. π
Happy birthday, George!
Jane S
I would love to swap vegetables too Celia…at least blogging allows us to swap stories and photos x
MissPiggy
I remember when you were pregnant with your girl…you used to come into the bookshop. Amazing that she's big enough to rid a horse (I feel old now…LOL).
Jane S
I remember those days Mel…good old Browzers π
MissPiggy
I assume it's still there plodding along.

Oh Jane, so much goodness in this post! Toasted marshmallows, cuddly horses, cafe visit, family, sunset, home harvests. Lovely. Best of luck with your blog reader declutter!
Jane S
Thanks Lucent…the declutter feels good π

Happy Days. Love the photos. It's the middle of summer here (allegedly) so I enjoy reading about your winter, though I suspect it's nearly as cold here today as it is in Australia.
Jane S
Thanks for calling in Anne, you are probably right about the temperature! About 16 degrees Celsius here today with rain.

i do love winter though in tassie it often feels like winter goes on for 9 months of the year – so i start to really yearn for the warmer months! but winter allows you to dress up more (hats and gloves and scarves and coats) and eat more (pudding and pudding and puddign and pudding). and seeing snow on mt wellingotn – as someone who has "only" lived in tassie for 15 years – still gives me a thrill.
Jane S
Lovely winter thoughts Liz! I know what you mean about the pudding π
