Afternoon walks and winter dinners

?>

I am relishing the gentle light and cool days of June.

There is always bread.

Endless views on afternoon walks. ย I need to just get out and walk more often.

A tidy back verandah. ย This scenario never lasts long.

A collection of old and not so old enamel cups.

Camp oven cooking and weekend dinners by the fire.

How is winter looking at your place?

Friends, have a great week and stay warm.

Ohhh Jane, beautiful, as usual. Love the enamel mugs – isn't there always just something familiar about them that's like having a drink with an old friend?
And a clean veranda, now that is a treat! Aside the the kitchen sink, it always seems like the first place to be dirty again. Love a clean veranda, no matter how fleeting!

Thanks for calling in Bess, lovely to hear from you, yes the clean verandah certainly does create a sense of control and order, even for a short time ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with Jane's comment above. The photos could be straight out of a magazine or tourism Outback NSW brochure….I'd certainly visit!

Lovely Jane! Winter here is looking quite cold, drizzly and very grey. There is the odd patch of sunshine but it's very windy. Great for wood fires and cups of tea though ๐Ÿ™‚

    Happy week!

It all looks beautiful Jane. Does your verandah wrap right around the house? Verandahs seem so romantic – probably because we don't have them over here.

Thank you Anne, it wraps around half of the house which is enough to maintain really!

Ahhh what beauty. It seems I'm going to have to seek out a certain magazine too! Winter is going to be different for us this year as we have just moved into a beautiful house in the suburbs which is all cottage-y on the outside and a modern kitchen, uncluttered, wooden floors on the inside. We are housesitting and I am pretending I know what I'm doing in the garden! Also…Lying in the grass with my dog to warm up in the sun. Gazing at the morning fog over the hill. Deeply breathing in the smell of wooden fires nearby. Typing at a beautiful wooden table. Happy winter to you. x

Lovely photos! Winter looks pretty where you are. It's hard for me to imagine that it is winter in Australia while I am travelling, it feels like the wind down to Christmas with the summer heat here, it will be a shock to return to grey Melbourne in august and still four months to chrissy!

Jane, I know it's hard work and not always fun, but you do make rural life look like sheer bliss and contentment. I'm sure it really is most of the time! ๐Ÿ™‚
