On Sunday I brought my little food business briefly out of hibernation and held a stall at a newly established market in Broken Hill.
On my table was a mixture of hand made sweet treats, eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables and of course, sourdough bread. The bread baskets were bare within the first hour of trading. My latest baking experiment is a sticky, spicy sourdough fruit bun and I had baked these just a few hours before the market. These were my most popular item and sold like hot cakes! It was a thrill to share the joy of handmade bread with the community.
Some people enjoyed little pots of my Chai tea as they soaked up the market atmosphere and some local music.
It was fun to be involved in a new community event and to see both familiar and new faces out and about enjoy their Sunday. I hope to make further appearances and in the meantime I will be fine tuning a few ideas and looking for some new foodie inspiration.

I'd be part of the market scene if you and your delicious goodies were guaranteed to make an appearance Jane! Sadly, we don't really have very many good foodie markets here. There's a fab one in Albany, but that's 6 hours away!

wow jane..what a fabulous array of goodies you had on offer..no wonder those buns sold so fast..what a treat it would have been to be able to buy a homemade freshly baked sourdough fruit bun..and to have it with a cup of tea too!

Jane, it all looks so professional! I hope you made good money, but it sounds like a fun day regardless of that! Can I please have one of your sticky buns? They look divine. I can't get to Broken Hill, so I might have to go and try to bake some. What do you glaze them with? Thanks.. 🙂

It was a lovely stall Jane and I am so pleased we were there early enough buy a selection of your goodies. The beetroot & chocolate brownie was my favourite I think…but the sourdough with homemade soup for tea was delicious too…havn`t made the chai tea yet and am rationing the greek bikkies Yum!!!! 🙂

Everything looks beautiful Jane! We don't get to the Farmers Markets in Mildura as much as we would like, it is fantastic though! A good market has fresh fruit and veg, bread and sweet treats, fresh flowers and plants, coffee and breakfast and lots of people for that feel good vibe! Must be more organised on Saturday mornings to get there before opening shop!

Fell upon your blog today Jane and your photos made me wish I had been there to share. Your stall looked amazing and so inviting. Just beautiful right down to the bunting! Sarah has shared some chai with me and I was pleasantly surprised! It was a nice change. Hope I can catch the next market day.
