Salvos Give a Lunch for Christmas

?>

Christmas is a special time but it can also be completely crazy, wouldn’t you agree?

Each year I feel bewildered by the sheer waste and excess I see around me.  I am working hard on simplifying our Christmas, focusing on sharing and rest and moving right away from mindless consumption.

With this in mind I have decided to support the Salvos Give a Lunch for Christmas appeal.  Please join me and share your lunch photos on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #SalvosGiveaLunch.  The more meals you post the more donations you are sure to inspire.  Help the Salvos fill 8000 empty plates this Christmas.  My food blogger friends should have no problems with this.

As 2012 is rapidly disappearing I have decided to make this my last blog post for the year.  Spending some time with my family minus the school routine is something I have been looking forward to for some time.  I might even put the camera away and just enjoy the moments as they unfold.

Thank you to my regular visitors who continue to inspire me.  You are always so generous and supportive with your comments.  Welcome to my new visitors and Merry Christmas to everyone in blog land!
My first photo to post for the appeal is of a regular weekday lunch I prepared recently.  Just in case you are curious it was zucchini slice served with caramelised onion jam and goats cheese.  Simple, goodness mostly home grown.

Jane x

*I support the Salvos just because I like them, I have no other association with them.

I love seeing our similar sentiments echoing around a few of us bloggers. It's so lovely to share these thoughts and find others who agree. I wish you a wonderful break with your family. Take care. Oh. And I'll take a piece of that zucchini lunch meal anyday, yum!

Wonderful cause to support Jane. I must do a blog post about this also. The zucchini slice looks like a wonderful lunch especially with the addition of the goats cheese & onion jam. Merry Christmas to you & your family, enjoy the festive period together and catch you next year. Catherine 🙂

This is a great cause Jane and I'm going to donate two plates…one for Dave and one for myself. I agree with your sentiments about X-mas and the 1st worlds need to "give stuff" to each other…most of it is cr@p really and just ends up in Landfill sooner or later. Tsk tsk.

Thanks for sharing that. I'll take a closer look. As a great supporter of Salvos op shops, it sits well with me. Now, on another note, tell me more about that paper cut tree.

Thanks Katie. If anyone else is interested in the paper tree it came from Pulp Creative Paper.

Jane have a wonderful christmas time with your family and friends. You have put into words what I have so often thought – christmas for me is now a time of simplicity and appreciating my family, not getting caught up in the commercialism of it all.
I agree with you too that the Salvos are (increasingly) and important part of our community.
See you back in the new year! XX e

Hello Jane! I just wanted to say a quick hello whilst telling you just how beautiful your blog is. Trawling through the photos, reading your recipes and stories… I feel like I've entered another world where time moves just that little bit slower. I'd love to return to an existence like yours… eating fresh vegetables from the ground, treasuring family at the absolute centre of life. It's what I aim for, whilst living in my garden-less shoebox of an apartment in the inner city. For now, I'll just dream… and read your blog every once in a while, to remind me that it is possible. Thanks for sharing. You're an inspiration.
