Our landscape has changed so much in the past few weeks.  The earth is damp and muddy and the grass is
green and dripping with moisture.

The days are short and the nights are long and dark.

Some days the winter sun is dazzlingly bright and on other days the sun barely appears at all.

 

Of course, any change in the season is always reflected in our food.  There has been plenty of fires and outdoor cooking.  I will find any excuse to light a fire at the moment and wood collecting is my favourite exercise.

We have had one heavy fog which completely transformed our normally vast horizons and open paddocks into dark and mysterious bushland, just for a while.

In the vegetable garden there is broccoli, cabbage, kale, lettuce, Asian greens, capsicum and every variety of weed.

I have been experimenting with this recipe for sourdough pita bread.  A great one to try if you are that way inclined.

One of the best parts of our hour long drive to town is getting some uninterrupted time to listen to new music.  This song is new to my ears.

Blankets are also on my mind.  I quite like the look of this one.

Like a lot of people out there in blog land I am reading this magazine and this one and also wondering how I might be able to justify buying this cookbook.
