Spring cleaning and moving house

?>

To those of you out there in blog land who are still reading, hello and thank you for calling in.

If you have visited recently you will know that I have been having some technical issues with Blogger.  Despite asking some knowledgeable people for help and reading endless forums I am unable to rid my photos of those black messages.  After much deliberation I have decided to move my blogging space to the serious and slightly daunting world of WordPress.  Actually, I have enlisted the help of a trusted fellow blogger to help me negotiate the world of URLs, hosting and plugins.

With my blog out of action I feel like a small part of me is missing.  While I love Instagram, my blog feels like a broader base for my other projects, stories and connections and this is why I have decided against giving up on it completely.
This move could take time but I hope at the other end some of you will still call in occasionally and say hello.

In all my years of blogging I have never written a post without photos but today, sadly there are no photos.  Instead, I will share with you some links to things I have loved and discovered recently.

Given our close ties to goats, this tea shop caught my eye recently on my interweb travels.

On a trip to Melbourne earlier this year I almost accidentally discovered Gewurzhaus while waiting for a delayed flight.  I fell in love with this peaceful, aromatic shop immediately.  Thanks to online shopping, I have recently re-visited.  Packages in the mail are not the same as being welcomed into a beautiful shop but it is a wonderful thing to have this option from so far away.

There are just so many gorgeous hats out there but the headwear from Penelope Haddrill is timeless and completely wearable.  Just in time for summer and for us, a month or two of horse events.

When it comes to passing the time while cleaning or tackling those mundane jobs The Food Podcast is a newly discovered favourite.  This podcasts oozes warmth, friendliness and genuine stories.

Signing off for now, but I will be back x

I've only recently discovered your blog, I'm so glad you plan to continue. I'm also taking an instagram break, it doesn't leave me feeling good.
Im off to check out your links now.

Hi Jane, how frustrating for you to have to move but I use WordPress and so far, so good. Seems robust and well-supported. Good luck with the transition and I look forward to seeing your gorgeous photos and reading how you get on. Sam x

Good luck with the move! I deliberated about self hosting and chickened out.
I'm glad you're not giving up the blog – I agree with what you said in your interview on the Open Kitchen podcast about blogs having a bit more depth than Insta.
Looking forward to following you in your new home soon.

Thank you Anne. I am not really sure about self hosting yet! I have a very talented friend helping me to get set up, I just hope I can manage it at the other end. Also, I made your huffers recently and added a handful of black olives and Parmesan cheese. They were so delicious, perfect movable food.

Once it's all moved, you will find it easy enough Jane. Take heart and take the time it needs. We are all waiting for your gorgeous country pictures and inspiring words and links. Looking forward ( and secretly pleased too as Blogger requires folk to sign in and out and in and out every time they make a comment.) xx

I value your comment so much Francesca, thank you. I love blogging and it is people like yourself who make it a true community. After reading your recent post I started to think about getting back into In My Kitchen, something I haven't contributed to since Celia was hosting. Happy travels.

Thanks for calling in Chooky, if you hover/mouse over my photos there is an ugly Photobucket pop-up message in each photo. Or maybe you cannot see it? I would be interested to know either way. Hope you get some rain soon, we could all do with it couldn't we? Jane

Moving sites is the biggest brain drain Jane so I wish you all the best. Give me a yell if I can be of any help. WordPress I've been with since the beginning and it's incredibly easy, (I don't self host though as don't need the added thinks 🙂 My other website is through Square Space though, and for something completely different, yep it's pretty great too.
See you when you land! xx

    Hi Jane,
I am loving your blog and stunning photos, however I am now very hungry it looks so delicious! Thanks for mentioning my hats, like you I am a farmers wife running after 3 kids and thanks to satellite broadband running an online business from our property. Looking forward to more great reads and recipes.

    Thanks

Thank you Penny. Earlier this year I purchased one of your hats for our local races. The same hat is just about to make another appearance at another local race meeting, I loved wearing it so much that is seemed frivolous to buy something else. Thank you for your comments.
